Here are the key features:

One of the most prominent star wars droids action figures, the Sphero BB-8 Droid Toy is already the #1 Best Seller in Robots on several retail websites. The launch of the newer version the BB-8 App-Enabled Droid with Droid Trainer by Sphero takes this wonderful product to the next level.

What is the Sphero BB-8 Droid?

Unlike its “competitor”, the original droid R2-D2, BB-8 is an intelligent droid which can be controlled with ease using a remote control. Alternatively, you can use an app via your smartphone or tablet. We think little robot is a cuter and friendlier version of the original star wars super battle droid.

It goes without saying that creating a Star Wars toy requires a certain degree of imagination and creativity. With this droid, the gap between what fans hold in their hands and what they actually see in movies has been reduced to a minimum. Even though this is one of the most expensive stars wars action figures to have hit the market, people still buy it like crazy. They definitely love the idea of being able to control their own droid.

How to Set up this Star Wars Battle Droid for Fun

Setting up this robot takes less than 5 minutes. All you need to do is to download the free app for your Android, iPad or iPhone from the store.  Then you just turn on the Bluetooth and get it closer to the droid so that a connection is established.

Once the connection is established, the Sphero BB-8 can autonomously explore your home. It’ll respond to voice commands and perform a series of movements and actions that have been pre-built into its core.

In terms of appearance, this toy fully resembles the one in the movies. This droid’s body is a smooth plastic ball wrapped in high-detailed graphics that appears to be very durable. On top of the ball, BB-8 has a tiny head that is attached to the main body using a powerful magnet. However, if for any reason the head falls to the ground, you can easily re-attach it to the body. The antennas on top of the head are made of durable plastic, so there is little risk of snapping them off during an unwanted collision.

Sphero App Enabled Droid 2017

Just like any other Sphero toys, BB-8 charges via induction when positioned on the cradle. This device will run for up to an hour at full battery.  Then it will take another three hours to fully charge and get it ready for another hour of fun. You can ride this beautiful star wars battle droid at a maximum of 5mph. The head moves automatically in the direction of travelling though it might pop off when you crash the body of the sphere into a wall!

Enjoying the Fun

What really makes this toy special is the smartphone app. That’s where you have plenty of Star Wars noises, sounds and sights. You can also make the most out of the augmented reality feature to project various holograms onto the floor. Even though the original Sphero BB-8 Droid Toy does not offer much, the newer version of his little droid will keep offering more and more especially after the latest movie released re-ignites interest.

According to the chief creative office’s head, Rob Maigret, the droid also comes in a real-life version. However, this costs around $20,000, which might be beyond your reach right now! Nevertheless, the pint-sized version of this famous star wars super battle droid has the potential to capture the spirit of the Star Wars film prop and keep fans entertained. The BB-9E App-Enabled Droid with Droid Trainer by Sphero is another great, entertaining yet educational product.  It makes an ideal gift to play with or to treasure as a collector.
