Lego Taj Mahal: A Small-Scale Review Of Epic Proportions
For the serious collector, the Taj Mahal set is a must-have item. We think its a huge shame that Lego decided to discontinue the set but its still worth hunting out. Specialist sellers sre demanding high prices which reflects the desirability but we still found some bargains out there.
For most children, a trip to India may not be possible but getting to experience the Taj Mahal in Lego form at least provides some insight into this amazing building.
The set comes with 5922 pieces of durable Lego plastic. These have been specially crafted to replicate the detail of the famous structure and its unique colors. The kit includes a base with domes, arches, stairs, minarets, and finials to complete the structure. Once completed, the building measures about 20 inches wide and 16 inches tall, and weighs over 15.4 pounds. This kit is designed for children 14 years and above and is perfect for seasoned builders who need a bigger challenge.
Pro 1: Stunning Appearance
The most noticeable thing about this set is its stunning appearance and closeness to the real thing. We think this is one of the most attractive models that Lego have produced. an amazing looking structure without any of the child like features with which it may be assoicated
Pro 2: Fine Detail
Another thing about this product is the level of detail. the combination of arches, curves, and decorations, cleverly replicate the amazing structure.
Pro 3: Solid Build
The structure is also very solidly built and is very sturdy. However, if you do want to move it to another location, it can be easily done. Simply disconnect the six base connectors and lift it off without needing to dismantle anything else.
Pro 4: Family Involvement
And on top of everything mentioned, this is a great way to get the whole family involved. The difficulty is actually not a bad thing, because the kids would be encouraged to get help from their parents or brothers and sisters. Perfect for Christmas day afternoon!
Con: Not Properly Categorized Blocks
We’ve seen some feedback that not all the blocks are not properly segregated or categorized in their individual packages. We strongly recommend spending some time putting all blocks of a similar type together before starting the build.
